Beloved Father and Son, Robert J. Morusty and Jason M. R. Morusty, Tragically Lose Their Lives in Devastating Groton, NY Mobile Home Fire
Robert J. Morusty, 77, and his son, Jason M. R. Morusty, 48, tragically passed away early on April 10th in a devastating mobile home fire at the Valley View Mobile Home Park in Groton, New York.
Emergency crews responded to the blaze around 12:32 a.m., but despite heroic efforts by first responders, both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Robert devoted much of his life to sales in the Ithaca area, specializing in photo albums and finishing services, and was known for his passion for the New York Yankees and active involvement with Squadron 800 of the Sons of the American Legion.
Jason spent his life in Groton, building a career in the food service industry, including managing a Dunkin’ Donuts in Cortland. He loved fishing with his family, hosting barbecues, and supporting the San Francisco 49ers.
Community members shared heartfelt condolences online, with one friend writing, "My heart goes out to the Morusty family in this unimaginable loss," while another added, "Thinking of all the family and friends during this very difficult time."
State fire investigators continue to examine the cause of the fire, and further details regarding memorial services will be announced by the family.
